Salt Lick is one of Driftwood’s most well known restaurants. With some of the best barbecue in Texas, you’ll find both locals and visitors at their Driftwood restaurant, especially on weekends.
Where is Salt Lick?
Salt Lick is located at 18300 F.M. 1826, Driftwood 78619. To get there, take 290 west to F.M. 1826 and make a left. Then, follow 1826 until you see their huge venue on the right side.
Salt Lick BBQ
The meat at salt lick is especially tasty. And, they keep in simple. Ribs, brisket, sausage and turkey. You can order meat by the pound, or as a plate with sides. Sides are potato salad, baked beans and coleslaw. Their coleslaw is no a traditional coleslaw. Instead, it has sort of an Asian flair with sesame seeds, making it different than your normal mayo based slaw.
Salt Lick on Weekends
If you visit Salt Lick on a weekend, make sure you give yourself some extra time. Its usually packed. But, the good news is they have bocce ball courts, plenty of picnic tables, live music, fresh squeezed lemonade and popcorn to tide you over. My suggestion would be to head over to Salt Lick Cellars in a small building next to the restaurant and taste some local wines. You can also purchase wine by the glass or bottle and sit outside.
Salt Lick is Cash Only and BYOB
Don’t forget cash and your favorite alcoholic beverage when you go. If you forget, they have an ATM and sometimes they sell 6 packs of beer near the winery.
